Mr. Edward Mubiru is a founder member of the Christopher Sembuya Foundation. He is inspired to the cause of the foundation as a first-hand witness to the formation and growth of Sembule Investment Finance, which was promoted to Sembule Commercial Bank Ltd in 1985.

He worked with the late Christopher Sembuya both in the Sembule Bank and Shelter Ltd, within the Sembule Group of Companies. He has been part of the growth of these entities — for example, he was the pioneer manager of Sembule Commercial Bank's Jinja Branch.

He is a resourceful person for the archives of different recordings that show the historical developments of the banking institution founded by Ugandan entrepreneur C. Columbus Sembuya. He brings into the foundation a chronology of the bank's growth — knowledge that will inform present and future generations that great entities can be built right here.

Other Notable Involvement

• Participated in the World Bank-funded Early Childhood Development project under the Ministry of Health, contributing to Advocacy and Training in Child Nutrition, Growth Promotion and Monitoring, and Early Childhood Education.
• Member of the Fathers' Union of the Church of Uganda, serving in various capacities.
• Member of the Namirembe Diocesan Synod/Council for 8 years, sitting on the Finance Committee and the Namirembe Cathedral governing committee known as the Chapter.
• Worked with the late Archbishop Mpalanyi Nkoyoyo as Team Leader in the development of the Anglican Martyrs' Shrine Museum, Namugongo.

What He Brings to the Foundation

Mr. Mubiru brings archival records and historical insight that serve as a frame of reference to facilitate new developments in banking and finance. As a pioneer banker, his exposure clearly illuminates the formation, growth, and challenges of building banking institutions from the ground up.

Namugenyi Lilian Caroline Wamala is a mother, wife, entrepreneur, academician, and social justice activist — the identity that takes precedence simply depends on the moment of introduction.

She is in her final year of Doctoral study at Makerere University's Makerere Institute of Social Research (MISR), with research interests centred on the relationship between religion and politics. She holds a Master of Philosophy from the same university, majoring in Cultural Studies and minoring in Political Studies. Her first degree — a first-class honours degree in Education — qualifies her as a teacher of English Language and Literature.

Vision

Her aspiration is to keep championing social justice through every available space — starting with academia, and extending into social, political, and economic spheres. Her strongest conviction is that Africans, and Ugandans specifically, must look inward to correct the historical mishaps of colonialism — mishaps that continue to linger and remain largely responsible for the social, economic, and political challenges experienced across the continent today.

Ms. Nancy Okecha is a professional lawyer with years of experience in law. She brings essential legal expertise and governance insight to the Christopher Columbus Sembuya Foundation's board, supporting the foundation's compliance, structure, and long-term institutional integrity.
