PAN WORLD INSURANCE COMPANY (U) LTD
The birth of Pan World Insurance Company Ltd is almost the same story as of the Sembule Investment Finance Ltd. It’s like giving birth to twins and one comes first and the other a few hours later.
Christopher Columbus Sembuya saw an insurance company in Kampala Uganda and discovered that it was started by an African Ugandan man. This company is called Statewide Insurance Company SWICo.
Like in the same way he was compelled to start the bank he felt that the Ugandan population needed an insurance company of an indigenous nature. He passed on the idea to his board and partner Henry Wilberforce Buwule. The same way he was exposed to banking processes, he was also incorporated into insurance business.
A number of interested parties came on board and the initiation of Pan World insurance company propelled. By 1986, Pan World Insurance Company was born, an insurance company started by an African Ugandan man and had its offices on Kampala Jinja road.
In its expansion program, Pan World found partners in Tanzania, Arusha and were connected. During the privatization process, Pan World ventured into possession of the former Nile hotel present day called Serena.
The connection between insurance and the hotel is not clearly known to this writer. But those that worked in Pan World can enlighten better on the connection because they are alive.

The insurance which started as Pan World insurance Company in 1986 is now Sanlam Insurance Company and existing to the present day 2024. Founded by an African Ugandan man born and raised in Kikwanyi Nkokonjeru Buikwe district Kyagwe County.
